Journal Jam is a 3‐hour workshop that combines beginner art and writing exercises to spark creativity, celebrate the documenting of life moments, and inspire us to make our own mark, without fear of failure. The art portion of the workshop demonstrates basic journaling techniques for creating backgrounds on our pages, by covering the paper with color and abstract shapes. The writing portion of the workshop leads the group through a series of writing exercises that encourage jammers to come up with words and phrases to describe life moments, their home, a loved one, or a special object.
Materials list:
-8”x5.5” Spiral bound journal with watercolor paper
-Watercolors, Sharpies, Pencils & pens
Parking for class will be on side of building.

Full refunds will not be given for class cancellations. This two-hour workshop is a basic introduction to the Zentangle drawing method. Class will cover the history, the applications, and the steps of creating an original Zentangle tile. This class invites all levels and requires no artistic experience. Learn the skills to take home and practice on your own! The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Anyone, any age, with any – or no – art experience can tangle! Instructor will provide special paper.

Walnut Ink Techniques

The beautiful color and interesting properties of walnut ink makes it a must-have for every artist’s toolbox. In this two hour class students will explore painting, lifting and drawing techniques using walnut ink on a variety of papers and other surfaces.  As time allows we will experiment with adding color and using mixed-media techniques.

Please purchase products advance of the class to ensure best selection.

 -Walnut Ink (Tom Norton brand)
-1 Flat or Mop watercolor brush (1/2” or larger, 1.5” max)
-1 Round watercolor brush w/ good point (size 4 min)
-(Optional:  1 round bamboo Sumi brush)
-Dip pen & nib(s) (nib size and style your choice)
-1 or 2 Black Micron pens (01 or larger, brush tip ok too)
-Drawing pencil (medium hardness)
-White vinyl or kneaded eraser
-Image references: bring photos and/or drawings from your sketchbook that you’d like to re-create using the walnut ink.
-Paper:  provided in class

 (Feel free to bring extra, watercolor paper is best)
