This past Saturday (August 31, 2013) we were lucky enough to host a
Plutonium Spray Paint demonstration with visiting artist Sloan (a.k.a.
LIFE).
Aritsts’ Mediums provided Sloan with 40”x60” foam core panels, a
30”x60” stretched canvas and a few dozen cans of Plutonium Spray Paint.
He hand-cuts his stencils from a thick paper (similar to posterboard)
and then layers different colors to add depth to the intricate designs.
About Sloan ( LIFE ): Sloan was born in Florida, but currently
resides in California. He is a self-taught artist who uses DIY
techniques to bring new life to the ancient craft of stenciling. Based
in downtown Los Angeles, Sloan has been painting public murals since
2010. His work is focused in L.A.’s urban areas desperately in need of
color, hope, and joy.http://www.Lifestreetla.blogspot.com

Mandala Drawing Class
MANDALA DRAWING CLASSES:
In Sanskrit Mandala literally means circle or center. Its traditional design
often utilizes the circle--symbol of the cosmos in its entirety--and the square--symbol
of the earth or of the man-made world.
The universality of the Mandala is in its one constant--the principle of the center.
It can represent the Mind of God or Eternal Potential or the Source from which all
proceeds. Very simple, very profound.
Drawing mandalas can be a very relaxing, therapeutic vehicle for self-expression;
a good way to get to know yourself better! It's all done with circles, symbols and shapes.
No specific artistic talent is needed to create a mandala! If you can write your name,
you can create a mandala.
Each session will start with a short meditation to "get you in the mood". There will be
some discussion of participant's mandalas, but only as you feel comfortable in doing so. There will be group projects and more individualized ones as we move along.
I have been known to give small amounts of "homework" for subjects that take more quiet reflection!
ADULT MANDALA CLASS: Ages 17 and up.

Erasers
You don't have to worry about making mistakes with this huge selection of Erasers:
Of course almost the most important eraser of all is the kneaded eraser. These are great for lifting color, and you can snap them apart to clean out the graphite from them.
White plastic erasers, Gum erasers, Pink pearl erasers.
Artists' Mediums Inc. also carries Helix electric erasers and the refills that go with it.
This is a battery operated handheld eraser, much lighter than the old fashioned plug in ones. The advantage is that you can even use it to erase out highlights!
Sanford Eraser sticks are an old favorite for a lot of folks:
